Abstract:OBJECTIVE To analysis the repeated reports of hepatitis C virus in Putuo District of Shanghai from 2012 to 2023,in order to provide basic foundation for epidemiological assessments.METHODS Data from the"China Disease Control and Prevention Information System Hepatitis C Prevention and Control Information System"was used. The research employed a dual approach of automated and manual de-duplication to scrutinize the cases of repeated reporting, and statistical analysis was performed.RESULTS A total of 1 802 cases with current addresses reported in Putuo District from 2012 to 2023,with 587 cases of repeated reporting, equating to a repeat reporting rate of 32.57%.Statistically significant differences in Hepatitis C reporting incidence rates were observed post-duplication removal for all years except 2012(P<0.05).Analysis by reporting year groups showed an increasing trend in the re-reporting rate of Hepatitis C with the increase of years(x2=4.523,P<0.05).There was a statistically significant difference in the likelihood of repeated reporting among cases of different age groups(x2=25.805,P<0.01),with the 50~59 age group having the highest repeat reporting rate of 37.29%(198/531).A significant variation in repeat reporting rates was observed among different occupational demographics(x2=18.740,P<0.01),with retirees exhibiting the highest rate at 37.21%(336/903).Notably,the repeat reporting rate of clinically diagnosed cases was much higher than that of confirmed cases,at 50.81%(125/246)and 29.19%(453/1 556)respectively(x2=34.925,P<0.01).Analysis across various categorizations revealed no significant statistical differences in repeated reporting cases between different medical institutions(x2=0.572,P>0.05).CONCLUSION Repeated reporting of Hepatitis C cases has a certain impact on the epidemiological assessment. It is necessary to strengthen the quality control of case reporting and to sort out the de-duplicate past cases,in order to provide a basic support for the treatment and management of existing and newly reported cases in the forthcoming period.
