Abstract:OBJECTIVE Investigate the prevalence of Helicobacter pylori(Hp)infection among school-aged children in the pediatric outpatient department of the hospital and analyze their nutritional status to provide a scientific basis for developing effective prevention and treatment strategies.METHODS Randomly select 50 school-aged children with Helicobacter pylori(Hp)infection from the pediatric outpatient department of Pingliang Heping Hospital as the observation group, and simultaneously randomly select 138 healthy school-aged children undergoing health check-ups as the control group.Conduct a questionnaire survey among the families of the children and compare the nutritional status between the two groups.RESULTS In the observation group, the rate of Helicobacter pylori(Hp)infection was higher than that in the control group among children with a family history of gastrointestinal diseases, family members with an education level below college,a monthly household income below 6 000 yuan, infrequent handwashing, feeding through chewing food, biting fingers or toys, and lacking dedicated dining utensils(x2=13.137,20.770,8.835,30.113,12.219,93.296,4.456,P<0.05).Additionally,all nutritional indicators in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(t=20.432,5.492,14.473,6.195,3.281,P<0.05).According to logistic multiple regression analysis, low educational background of family members, history of gastrointestinal diseases in immediate family members, low monthly family income, lack of specialized tableware, feeding with chewed food, and biting fingers or toys are independent risk factors for Hp infection.CONCLUSION Preschool children with low education levels,a history of gastrointestinal diseases in immediate family members, low monthly family income,no dedicated tableware, oral feeding, finger biting or toy biting are more susceptible to Hp infection, and their nutritional status is poor, manifested by lower nutritional indicators than normal children.Attention should be paid to Hp prevention and nutritional improvement in such children.
