Abstract:OBJECTIVE To analyze the association and predictive value of different anthropometric indicators with the risk of hypertension, provide scientific evidence for early identification of hypertension.METHODS Residents of Chongchuan District of Nantong, who participated in the 2023 Social Impact Factors Survey for Chronic Disease Prevention under the National Comprehensive Demonstration Zone for Chronic Disease Prevention and Control project were included as subjects.Logistic regression models were used to analyze the relationship between four anthropometric indicators-body mass index(BMI),waist circumference(WC),body shape index(ABSI),and waist-to-height ratio(WHtR)—and the risk of hypertension.Receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curves were analyzed to evaluate the predictive performance of different obesity indices for hypertension risk.RESULTS A total of 9 917 participants were included, with 3 280 cases of hypertension,a prevalence rate of 33.07%.Before adjusting for confounding factors, logistic regression models showed significant associations between all four anthropometric indices and hypertension risk(P<0.01).After adjusting for confounding factors,in the male population, the risk of hypertension in the overweight and obese BMI groups was 2.087 and 3.994 times higher than in the normal BMI group. The risk of hypertension in the obese WC and WHtR groups was 2.378 and 2.514 times higher than in the normal groups.Only the Q3 group of ABSI showed a statistically significant difference in hypertension risk compared to the Q1 group(P<0.01).In the female population, the risk of hypertension in the overweight and obese BMI groups was 2.087 and 3.994 times higher than in the normal BMI group. The risk of hypertension in the obese WC and WHtR groups was 2.378 and 2.514 times higher than in the normal groups.Only the Q4 group of ABSI showed a statistically significant difference in hypertension risk compared to the Q1 group(P<0.01).ROC curve analysis showed that WHtR had the highest area under the curve(AUC),sensitivity, and Youden's index in the overall population, males, and females, both before and after adjusting for confounding factors.CONCLUSION BMI,WC,ABSI,and WHtR are all associated with an increased risk of hypertension.WHtR provides a good prediction of hypertension risk.
