Analysis of the Epidemiological Characteristics of Class C Infectious Diseases in Tongzhou District of Nantong from 2014 to 2023

Abstract:OBJECTIVE To analyze the epidemic characteristics of class C infectious diseases in Tongzhou District of Nantong from 2014 to 2023,and to provide a basis for the formulation of local policies on the prevention and control of infectiousdiseases.METHODS Descriptive epidemiological methods were used to understand epidemic characteristics of class C infectious diseases in Tongzhou District of Nantong.RESULTS A total of 19 420 cases of six types of class C infectious diseases were reported from 2014 to 2023 accounting for 56.44%of the total number of statutory infectious diseases,with an annual average incidence rate of 174.55/105 which showed a wave-like upward trend.The top three diseases with reported incidence were hand,foot and mouth disease(108.16/105),influenza(47.29/105),and theinfectious diarrhea(10.74/105).There were two main incidence peaks in a year which the main peak was from November to December and the secondary peak was from May to July whose cumulative reported casesaccounting for 61.71%of class C infectious diseases.The average annual incidence rate of urban area was higher than that in rural areas.The inci-dence population was mainly scattered,kindergarten children and under-10 age group.CONCLUSION The incidence of Class C in-fectious diseases in Tongzhou District of Nantong has obvious seasonality and crowd aggregation.In the epidemicseason,it is impor-tant to focus on the prevention and control of hand,foot and mouth disease,influenza and other infectious diarrhea in schools,kids institutions and scatteredchildren living in communities.
