Abstract:OBJECTIVE To analyze the results of refractive screening among preschool children in Tongzhou District of Nantong and to explore related preventive measures for visual health care among preschool children.METHODS All preschool children in the district undergo an annual routine refractive screening from 2021 to 2023 conducted by trained medical using the Welch Allyn Dual Screen Refractive Screener. At the same time, kindergartens were instructed to conduct a basic investigation of parents, understand children's basic information, eye history, eye use time, eye health behavior, etc.,and identify the main factors affecting the results of refractive screening of preschool children.χ2 test and logistic regression analysis were used to determine the influencing factors of abnormal refraction in preschool children.RESULTS From 2021 to 2023,there were 72 533 preschool children in Tongzhou District, and 72 522 received refractive screening, with a total detection rate of 99.98%.Among them,a total of 15 936 children with abnor-mal refraction were detected, and the screening rate of abnormal refraction was 21.97%(15 936/72 522).The failure rate of refrac-tive screening in 2021 was 21.87%,in 2022 was 22.39%,and in 2023 it was 21.65%.From 2021 to 2023,the abnormalities of re-fractive screening in preschool children in Tongzhou District were mainly astigmatism, farsightedness and myopia, and the total screening rates of myopia, farsightedness and astigmatism were 2.24%,4.33%and 12.88%,respectively.The results of univariate and Logistic regression analysis showed a family history of refractive abnormalities, lack of knowledge about eye health among parents, prolonged use of electronic products, and insufficient time spent on outdoor activities were the influencing factors for refrac-tive abnormalities among preschool children.CONCLUSION Preschool children are in an important stage of visual development, and relevant need to strengthen their attention and cooperation to do a good job in refractive screening, effectively implement intervention measures, and enhance educational efforts to better protect the visual function preschool children.
