Epidemiological and Pathogenic Characteristics Analysis of Hand Foot and Mouth Disease in Laiwu District of Jinan from 2019 to 2023

Abstract:OBJECTIVE To understand the epidemiological and etiological characteristics of hand,foot and mouth disease (HFMD) in Laiwu District of Jinan,and to provide a basis for the formulation of next prevention and control measures. METHODS The epidemiological and etiological characteristics of HFMD in Laiwu District of Jinan from 2019 to 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. The data was statistically analyzed using the SPSS 25.0 software,comparison of rates with χ2 test. RESULTS From 2019 to 2023,the average annual incidence of HFMD in Laiwu District was 39.31/105,with wavy prevalence and overall decreasing trend (χ2=1 155.783,P<0.01 ). The disease occured throug hout the year,with a low peak from January to April and a high peak from July to September. The characteristics of urban areas being higher than rural areas and males being higher than females were presented. The age of onset is mainly children under 5 years old. Pathogenic testing showed that CoxA16 and other enteroviruses were the main strains of infection. CONCLUSION The incidence of HFMD in Laiwu District is sporadic and prevalent,mainly in children. It is highly contagious and prone to outbreaks or epidemics,and there is currently no specific treatment method. Therefore,comprehensive prevention and control measures should be carried out to prevent and control the occurrence and spread of hand,foot and mouth flow.
