Analysis on Prevalence and Impact Factors of Osteoporosis among Middle-aged and Elderly Populations in Gaoxin(Gaogang)District of Taizhou

Abstract:OBJECTIVE To analyze the prevalence of osteoporosis among middle-aged and elderly populations in Gaoxin(Gaogang)District of Taizhou,and explore relevant impact factors.METHODS In January 2024,a simple random sampling method was used to select 1 042 middle-aged and elderly residents in Yexu Town,Gaoxin(Gaogang)District of Taizhou,questionnaire survey and ultrasound bone density testing were conducted on residents.RESULTS Among the 1 042 subjects,406 subjects(38.96%)had osteoporosis,467 subjects(44.82%)had osteopenia,and 169 subjects(16.22%)had normal bone mass.The results of multiple logistic regression shown that age(OR=1.50,95%CI:1.29~1.76),rest time(OR=1.31,95%CI:1.05~1.63)and the frequency of consuming beef and mutton(OR=0.63,95%CI:0.46~0.87)were impact factors of osteoporosis.CONCLUSION Elderly,long rest time are risk factors for osteoporosis,and frequent consumption of beef and mutton is a protective factor for osteoporosis.
