Study on the Influencing Factors of Long-term Care Model for Disabled Elderly in Beijing

Abstract:OBJECTIVE To delve into the multifaceted factors that shape the selection of long-term care models among elderly individuals with disabilities residing in Beijing.METHODS A logit regression model is used based on the data from the 5 waves of Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey(CLHLS)from 2005 to 2018 and the Anderson Health Behavior Model.RESULTS Family care was the main care mode chosen by disabled elderly in Beijing.There were differences between urban and rural areas in the items and degree of daily self-care loss and the choice of care mode for disabled elderly in Beijing.Among the forward-leaning factors,age,gender and place of residence had significant effects on the choice of long-term care mode for disabled elderly.Among the enabling factors,the housing situation,the number of surviving daughters and the number of co-residents had a significant im-pact on the choice of long-term care mode for the disabled elderly.Among the demand factors,self-rated health status had an im-pact on the choice of long-term care mode for disabled elderly people.CONCLUSION It should improve the long-term care security system with multi-participation,and hospitals,nursing homes,communities and families should play their respective functions to car-ry out diversified care for disabled elderly people of different degrees to meet their diverse needs.
