Analysis of the Status Quo of High Blood Pressure and Its Influencing Factors in Primary and Middle School Students in Weifang

Abstract:OBJECTIVE To investigate the current situation of high blood pressure in primary and secondary school students in Weifang,analyze its influencing factors,and provide reference for local health policies and intervention measures.METHODS It was a cross-sectional survey with data from the monitoring data management platform of students'common diseases in Shandong Prov-ince.Using multi-stage stratified random cluster sampling method,8 769 primary and secondary school students from 72 primary and secondary schools in 12 counties and urban areas of Weifang were selected for investigation.Multivariate logistic regression anal-ysis was used to analyze the correlation between high blood pressure and region,school section,gender,overweight and obesity of pri-mary and secondary school students.RESULTS The detection rate of high blood pressure in primary and secondary schools in Wei-fang was 14.92%.Univariate analysis showed that different regions,study period,sex,BMI,the effect on high blood pressure was sta-tistically significant(P<0.01).BMI was positively correlated with systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure(r=0.244,0.058,P<0.01).Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that urban(OR=1.44),middle school(OR=1.43),high school(OR=1.56),overweight(OR=1.26)and obesity(OR=1.96)were risk factors for high blood pressure in middle school students.CON-CLUSION The high blood pressure of primary and secondary school students in Weifang is relatively high,and it increases with age.Overweight and obesity are important factors affecting the high blood pressure of primary and secondary school students.
