Analysis of the Use and Influence Factors of Community Medical Services in Older Adults with Hypertension in Hohhot

Abstract：OBJECTIVE In order to understand the community medical situation of the older adults with hypertension,improve the service capacity for chronic diseases such as hypertension,and improve the health status of the older adults with hypertension.METHODS Researchers randomly selected 8 community health service centers from 4 districts in Hohhot,and used cluster sam-pling to select 1 499 elderly hypertensive patients aged 65 and above from their registered management.Researchers used standard-ized questionnaires to survey them or their families.RESULTS The overall utilization rate of hypertension medical services provided by the community for elderly hypertensive patients in 2021 was 44.2%.Among them,the utilization rate of Western medicine was the highest(66%),followed by the combination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine(18.4%).The overall utilization of Mongolian medicine was lower than that of Western medicine and traditional Chinese medicine.From the frequency of use,whether it was Western medicine,traditional Chinese medicine,or Mongolian medicine,the total number of uses within a year was mostly less than 3,and the main expenditure for hypertension treatment was less than 500 CNY.The main reasons for not using communi-ty services were only willing to go to the hospital for treatment(30.8%)and the inability of the community to provide the necessary drugs or treatment services(28%).Gender,insurance status,distance between residence and community service center,severity of perceived hypertension,and clinical staging of hypertension were influencing factors for the older adults with hypertension seek-ing community treatment.CONCLUSION The utilization of hypertension medical services provided by community health service insti-tutions by elderly hypertensive patients in the region was insufficient and uneven.The government and community health service in-stitutions should take more effective measures to promote the improvement of community services for chronic diseases such as hyper-tension in the region,and effectively improve the health status of elderly hypertensive patients.
