Growth,Development and Overweight and Obesity among Primary and Secondary School Students Aged 7～15 Years in Hui Autonomous County of Zhangjiachuan

Abstract：OBJECTIVE To analyze the growth and development,overweight and obesity status of primary and secondary school students aged 7～15 years old in Hui Autonomous county of Zhangjiachuan,Gansu province,and to provide basis for guiding the healthy growth and development of primary and secondary school students.METHODS From March to April 2023,a random cluster sampling method was used to select 1769 primary and secondary school students aged 7～15 years old for physical examination to analyze their growth and development and overweight and obesity status.RESULTS Primary and secondary s c h o o l s t u d e n t s a g e d 7～15 years in Zhangjiachuan Hui Autonomous county were investigated,the differences were statistically significant(H=452.916,1379.896,1122.158,P＜0.05).BMI,height and weight of primary and secondary school students aged 7～15 years increased with age(Z=-2.074,P＜0.05).The height of boys and girls crosses twice near the age of 10 and 12.5.The height of girls increases rapidly from 8 to 12 years old,and shows a peak growth at 11 years old.The height of male students increased rapidly from 8 to 14 years old,and the growth peak occurs at 14 years old.The overweight and obesity rates were 11.48%and 8.93%,respectively.The rates of overweight and obesity in boys were higher than those in girls,there was statistically significant difference.(χ2=20.922,4.150,P＜0.05).Among them,the overweight rate and obesity rate of boys are higher than that of girls.The comparison of overweight rate and obesity rate of primary and secondary school students with different height grades showed statistically significant difference(χ2=17.235,40.979,P＜0.05).Among them,the overweight rate and obesity rate of students with average height and development were higher than those of students with average height and development.CONCLUSION The overweight rate and obesity rate of primary and secondary school students in Hui Autonomous county of Zhangjiachuan were high,so the prevention and control of overweight rate and obesity rate of primary and secondary school students should be strengthened,especially boys and students with medium height and above.
