Analysis of Residents'Literacy in Chronic Disease Prevention and Control in Longyou County during the Period from 2021 to 2023

Abstract:OBJECTIVE To grasp the specific situation of residents'awareness of chronic disease prevention and treatment in Longyou County from 2021 to 2023,and to provide a basis for the future implementation of chronic disease prevention and treatment.METHODS A questionnaire survey was conducted among the permanent residents aged 15~69 years old(excluding those living in collective housing)in Longyou County using a stratified multi-stage random sampling method from 2021 to 2023.RESULTS The literacy levels of residents in Longyou County from 2021 to 2023 were 31.81%,41.08%,and 47.85%,respectively.There were significant differences in different demographic characteristics(P<0.05),among which the literacy level of males was higher than that of females,decreased with age,and increased with education level and annual family income;the literacy level of farmers and workers was lower,and that of students was the highest,and that of urban residents was higher than that of rural residents;regression analysis showed that gender,age,education level,occupation,annual family income,place of residence,and chronic diseases were all influencing factors of residents'literacy level in chronic disease prevention and treatment.CONCLUSION The overall level of chronic disease prevention and treatment literacy of residents in Longyou County is on the rise.It is necessary to pay attention to the health education of dietary nutrition,self-management of chronic disease patients,tobacco control,exercise and other weak points.Targeted health literacy promotion work should be carried out for women,middle-aged and elderly people,low-educated people,farmers,workers,low-income people and chronic disease patients.
