Differences and Causes of Myopia among Students in Different Stages in Jiangbei District of Chongqing in 2022

Abstract:OBJECTIVE To investigate the differences in myopia rates among students of different status,analysis the main influ-encing factors in Jiangbei District of Chongqing in 2022,and to provide a scientific basis for myopia-prevention and control pro-grams in children and adolescents.METHODS With cluster stratified random sampling,students from primary school,secondary school,high school and professional high school in Jiangbei of Chongqing were all selected as participants,and investigate the whole class as a unit.The visual acuity of students was measured by visual examination and refractive examination.Single factor and bina-ry multivariate logistic regression,which was carried out by SPSS v.22.0 software.RESULTS In 2022,the overall myopia rate for chil-dren and adolescents in Jiangbei,Chongqing was 60.84%.The prevalence of myopia among primary school,middle school,high school and vocational school students was 42.72%,73.05%,79.63%,and 68.80%,respectively.The difference in myopia detection rate among different academic stages was statistically significant(χ2=480.51,P<0.01).From primary school to high school,the proportion of low myopia was decreasing,moderate and high myopia showed an upward trend(χ2=271.18,67.61,168.30,P<0.01).The myopia rate of girls(64.66%)was significantly higher than that of boys(58.56%)(χ2=14.73,P<0.01).CONCLUSION The situ-ation of low vision in primary schools for children and adolescents in Jiangbei District in 2022 is relatively serious and far higher than the myopia rate of primary school students nationwide in 2020.Therefore,it is necessary to strengthen the detection and preven-tion measures for the vision of lower grade students.There are numerous and complex factors that affect myopia,such as reading and writing habits,sleep time and so on.It is recommended to carry out targeted myopia Prevention and control measures.
