Missions of Medicine from the Dingxian Model to Post-pandemic Era
Liu Yuhao
Abstract:C.C Chen is the founder of the contemporary rural healthcare system. He established the first systematic rural health organization in China,"the Dingxian Model",which has a long-lasting influence on China's primary health reform.By researching the book Medicine in Rural China:A Personal Account,it summarizes the core contribution and feature of Chen's"Dingxian Model"as establishing a three-level primary healthcare network. In the post-pandemic era,the paper highlights responsibility for the 7th generation of China's scholars in medicine. It also uses the syndemic theory to suggest that in the future, scholars in medicine should not only focus on diseases themselves, but also focus on the interactions between social environmental determinants and diseases. It concludes that the authority should strengthen the ideal of"caring for population health"as well as focus on"treating diseases at the individual level".The mission starts from Chen's theories. It should adhere to Chen's theory, learn from him and develop his theory.
