Analysis on the Survey of Iodine Deficiency Disorders in Pregnant Women and Children in Dehong State of Yunnan Prov-ince in 2022

Abstract:OBJECTIVE To analyze the monitoring results of iodine deficiency disorders(IDD)in pregnant women and children in Dehong prefecture of Yunnan Province in 2022,and to obtain the standard control situation,so as to timely propose and adjust the intervention strategy.METHODS Five counties(cities)in Dehong Prefecture of Yunnan Province were divided into five sampling areas,one township was randomly selected in each area,one school was randomly selected in each township,40 non-boarding stu-dents aged 8~10 were selected in each primary school,and 20 pregnant women were selected in each township.Salt and urine were collected from their homes.Thyroid volume should be measured in children.RESULTS A total of 1 609 household salt and urine samples were collected,including 1 073 children and 536 pregnant women.The consumption rate of qualified iodized salt was 96.89%,and there was significant difference in the consumption rate of qualified iodized salt among residents in different counties(cities)(χ2= 28.491,P<0.01).The median urinary iodine of children was 257.50 μg/L,and there was a statistically significant differ-ence in the median urinary iodine of children in different counties(cities)(H= 259.399,P<0.01).The median urinary iodine of preg-nant women was 203.05 μg/L,and the difference in the median urinary iodine of pregnant women in counties and cities was statisti-cally significant(H= 44.743,P<0.01).The rate of goiter in 1 073 children was 0.56%.CONCLUSION In 2022,the national stan-dards for elimination of iodine deficiency disorders have been maintained at the county(city)level in Dehong Prefecture,Yunnan Province.Some counties(cities)have the risk of iodine excess.
