Abstract:OBJECTIVE To study the self-management behavior of the patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in the communities and its effects on glucose control, and to provide theoretical basis for further standardized health education intervention.METHODS Using the random number method, patients from community health service information system were selected for one-to-one survey during Junly to December in 2022,in which the patienscharacteristics,self-management behavior, and glucose control were included.RESULTS 923 patients were recruited. The average scores of rational medication use, proper diet and physical exercise were 6.78±1.08 points,5.88±2.28 points and 5.49±2.65 points, respectively.Whereas, patients scored all lower than 2 on foot inspection, blood glucose monitoring and blood glucose monitoring prescribed by the doctor. The control rate of HbA1c was 48.77%.Results from multivariate regression analysis showed that patients with disease course longer than 5 years, smoking behavior,no equipping blood glucose meter, using insulin, and less or no proper diet were less likely to reach the HbA1c control standard.CONCLUSION Community type 2 diabetes patients show better performance in rational drug use, proper diet and physical exercise, but poor performance in foot inspection, blood glucose monitoring and monitoring prescribed by the doctor.Proper diet is an important factor for HbA1c control. It is suggested to strengthen the guidance of patients'self-management knowledge and skills to promote glucose control.
