Abstract:OBJECTIVE Based on the theory of protective motivation, the current situation of community residents'willingness for gastric cancer screening and the factors affecting it were explored to provide a reference basis for the relevant departments to de-velop effective interventions to increase the screening rate of gastric cancer.METHODS Selected 660 eligible community residents for questionnaire survey from March to August in 2023.RESULTS The survey respondents'gastric cancer screening willingness score was(6.27±1.46);the results of Pearson correlation analysis showed that the willingness of community residents to be screened for gastric cancer was significantly correlated with their knowledge level, severity, susceptibility, response efficacy, cost of response, and self-efficacy;and the results of the multivariate linear regression analysis showed that college education or above, smoking and alcohol consumption, knowledge score of gastric cancer screening,gastric-related disease history,Helicobacter pylori infection,histo-ry of gastroscopy, and the severity, susceptibility, and self-efficacy of protective motivational factors were the influencing factors of community residents'willingness to undergo gastric cancer screening.CONCLUSION The overall level of community residents'willingness to screen for gastric cancer is average;the theory of protective motivation has a certain explanatory effect on community residents'willingness to screen for gastric cancer, and the relevant departments should formulate and carry out individualized inter-ventions to promote gastric cancer screening for different individuals,to increase the rate of gastric cancer screening participation among community residents.
