Abstract:OBJECTIVE To analyze the nutritional status of primary and secondary school students in Hainan and the correlation between nutritional knowledge and dietary behaviors,in order to provide a scientific basis for targeted improvement of the nutritional status of local students and the implementation of reliable nutritional intervention strategies.METHODS 13 schools(6 elementary school and 7 secondary schools)of Hainan were selected for the survey using stratified whole-group random sampling method in 2021,and a total of 1 409 primary and junior high school students were subjected to physical examination and questionnaire survey.Correlation analysis and regression model were used to analyze the association between nutritional knowledge and dietary behavior.RESULTS The malnutrition detection rate of 1,409 students was 16.90%and the overweight and obesity detection rate was 18.40%.Comparison of malnutrition detection rates among students of different genders showed statistically significant differences(χ2= 13.013,P<0.05);comparison of normal nutritional status among students of different genders, family residence, and grades showed statistically significant differences(χ2=26.789,1.904,4.836,respectively,P<0.05).Comparison of nutritional knowledge and dietary behavior scores of students with different nutritional status, the differences were statistically significant(F=6.776,14.893,P<0.05),and nutritional knowledge and dietary behavior scores of students with normal nutritional status were the highest, and both scores of overweight and obese students were the lowest. The results of binary logistic regression analysis showed that dietary behavior scores had a significant effect on students'nutritional status(OR=0.811,95%CI:0.747~0.880)CONCLUSION The nutritional status of junior high school and elementary school students of Hainan is a cause for concern, with a high rate of malnutrition and a mismatch between the growth of nutritional knowledge and behaviors. It is suggested that Hainan should focus on dietary behavior intervention, strengthen the observation of students'behavioral effects,real-time supervision and intervention, and fundamentally improve students'nutritional status.
