Analysis of Eye Health and Abnormal Vision of Preschool Children in Haidian District of Beijing from 2013 to 2022

Abstract:OBJECTIVE To understand the changing trend of eye care status of 4~6 years old children in kindergartens in Haidian district,and to provide evidence for making corresponding intervention measures.METHODS The annual reports of 4~6 years old children's eye care in Haidian district kindergarten from 2013 to 2022 were analyzed.RESULTS During the past 10 years,the visual inspection rate of children aged 4~6 years in kindergartens in Haidian district fluctuated between 99.16%and 99.89%,showing an upward trend(χ2=238.628,P<0.01).The prevalence of low vision fluctuated between 5.97%and 7.57%.The prevalence of low vision showed an increasing trend(χ2 =17.355,P<0.01),and reached the highest level in 2021,and decreased to the lowest level in 2022.The incidence of amblyopia fluctuated between 0.41%and 1.29%,showing a downward trend(χ2=451.419,P<0.01),and the correction rate of low vision fluctuated between 75.74%and 97.63%,showing an upward trend(χ2= 1 087.365,P<0.01).The rate of local children with low normal vision and the rate of correction of low normal vision were both higher than those of non-native children in numerical value,Some years had statistical significance in comparison between the two.CONCLUSION The coverage of eye care for preschool children in Haidian District of Beijing is good,and the rate of children's low vision is increasing year by year.Children with registered residence in the city are the key population to prevent low vision.Parents of children with registered residence in other places should pay more attention to the correction of children's low vision.By strengthening eye health education for parents and teachers,focusing on cultivating children's good eye habits,comprehensive intervention can reduce the incidence of low vision.
