Analysis of the Current Situation and Influencing Factors of Adverse Events in Home Care for Stroke Patients in a Community in Shanghai

Abstract:OBJECTIVE To understand the occurrence of adverse events in home care for stroke patients in Zhuqiao Community,Pudong New District,Shanghai,and to analyze their influencing factors.METHODS A cluster sampling method was used to conduct a questionnaire survey among 516 home-based stroke patients who were discharged from Zhuqiao Community in Pudong New Area in 2020 from May to July 2021.RESULTS A total of 179 people had adverse events in home care,with an incidence rate of 34.7%.Logistic regression analysis results showed that the patient's ability to live(ADL),use of assistive devices,depression,and caregiver training were the influences of adverse events in home care factors.CONCLUSION Adverse events in home-based stroke care are affected by many factors.Patients with low ADL scores,use of assistive devices,depression,and caregivers who have not participated in relevant training are at a higher risk of adverse events.It should focus on strengthening the care of such patients.Safety protection to reduce the incidence of adverse events.
