Abstract:OBJECTIVE To explore the associations between the newborn's physique and parental body mass index(BMI),ma-ternal weight gain, and anemia during pregnancy, and to provide theoretical basis for improving the quality of maternal and child health care.METHODS From January 2020 to December 2020,100 parents and newborns were selected from Lanzhou Maternal and Child Health Hospital who carry out systematic health care management during pregnancy and childbirth.A questionnaire was de-signed to investigate the health status of pregnant women.Through face-to-face interviews and tests during medical treatment, the general situation of parents, perinatal living habits, height, weight, delivery of newborns, birth physique,BMI,hemoglobin test values were collected, and the data were analyzed by statistical method.RESULTS Different BMI types of fathers are related to newborns'physique. The birth weight of newborns in the low weight group, the normal weight group and the superrecombinant fathers were(3.01±0.28)kg,(3.25±0.44)kg and(3.40±0.34)kg,respectively,and the difference was statistically significant(F=9.793,P<0.05).The weight gain of mothers during pregnancy was correlated with the birth weight of newborns, and the birth weight of newborns of undergain, normal gain, and super-gain mothers was(3.22±0.42)kg,(3.19±0.34)kg,and(3.40±0.45)kg,respectively.The difference between the three groups was statistically significant(F=9.878,P<0.01).Multiple linear regression analysis showed that paternal BMI,maternal weight gain during pregnancy and pre-pregnancy BMI were positively correlated with newborn birth weight, while pa-ternal alcohol consumption was negatively correlated with newborn birth weight.Paternal BMI and maternal height were positively correlated with birth length.CONCLUSION Newborn birth physique is related to parental BMI and maternal weight gain during preg-nancy.Attention should be paid to the influence of father factors on early childhood development.
