Investigation on the Identification and Management of Maternal Mental Disorders by Gynaecology and Obstetrics Health Care Workers in Jinshan District, Shanghai
Abstract:OBJECTIVE To investigate the recognition rate and processing capacity of gynaecology and obstetrics health care workers in Jinshan District for common mental diseases of pregnant women and provide a basis for targeted training. METHODS Through stratified random sampling, 98 gynaecology and obstetrics health care workers in the whole region were selected to carry out the questionnaire Case Analysis of Common Psychological Behavior Problems in Pregnant Women. RESULTS Among the respondents, 90.4% could correctly identify postpartum depression, only 13.8% could correctly identify schizophrenia, and 52.1% could correctly identify anxiety disorder.Midwives had the highest rate of identification of common psychological behavior problems in pregnant women and the lowest rate of nurs?es, postpartum follow-up physicians were more likely to choose the correct management than other interviewees of the occupational type, the rate of correct choice of management by staff in community health service centers was higher than other types of hospital respondents.The higher the recognition score was, the higher the correct processing ability would be. CONCLUSION The recognition rate of postpartum depression among maternal and obstetric health care workers in Jinshan District was higher than that of anxiety disorder and schizophrenia. The ability to deal with psychological behavior problems of pregnant women was poor. The occupation type (doctor, nurse, midwife, postpartum follow-up physician) is the influencing factor of the recognition rate, hospital level, occupation type and recognition score are the influencing factors of correct handling rate.
