Abstract：Participatory wealth ranking is a useful method for identifying the target population of the program on Maternal and Chfild Health Poverty Alleviation Fund (MCHPAF) in China. This paper describes the principles and process of participatory wealth ranking in MCHPAF.The author points out some issues of applying participatory wealth ranking in MCHPAF,which should be focused on: (1)the poorest proportion of the whole county population, (2)economic situation of the poorest household is dynamic, (3)gender equity,and (4)the number of the poorest people should be balanced with the amount of the MCH poverty alleviation fund.
