Abstract:Based on the data obtained on child health in forty UNICEF project counties of Xinjiang, Qinghai, Gansui, Ningxia and Guizhou provinces, the study analyzed child status of feeding, growth and development, as well as factors which influence child under weight and stunting. The result showed that breast-feeding rate under three years old children was high, however pure breast-feeding was not high among the same group. At fourth and sixth month old children the rate of complementary feeding were 18. 4% and 45. 1% respectively. Age-specialweight and age-special-height were higher than that of WHO under fourth or sixth month old children. Age-special-weight was lower than that of WHO from eighth month to three years old children. Male age-special-height was lower than that of WHO from eighth month to three years old children. Female age-special-height was lower than that of WHO from eleventh month to three year olds children. The main factor which influenced child under weight and stunting were nationality,mother's education, sources of family income, child age,the way of feeding, hygiene of drinking water,and suffering from diarrhea.
