Exploration and practice of professional orientation in standardized residency training for pediatric surgery

Abstract：Professional orientation is the first step in the standardized residency training when residents entering the base,and it is an indispensable and important part of the initial education for standardized residency training.In line with the basic content and requirements of the"Guideline for Professional Orientation in Standardized Residency Training(2022 Edition)",and combined with the characteristics and over a decade's experience of the pediatric surgery base of Xinhua Hospital Affiliated with Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine,an exploration and practice of the curriculum design and implementation for professional orientation was conducted over the past three years.A professional orientation system for pediatric surgery base was established,which included six major modules:discipline characteristics and organizational structure,medicine work system,training objectives and content,clinical capabilities and skill operations,daily management,team and medical-patient communication,and humanistic quality.This system can not only enhance the quality of training for pediatric surgery residents,but also provide valuable reference experience for the standardized,normalized and homogeneous implementation of professional orientation for pediatric surgery residents.
