Investigation on the influence of negative public opinion about doctor-patient relationship on professional master's degree students'professional learning and career choice

Abstract:Objective To understand residents'cognition of negative public opinion about doctor-patient relationship,and to explore the influence of negative public opinion about doctor-patient relationship on professional master's degree students'professional learning and career choice.Methods 356 professional master's degree students of internal medicine,surgery,obstetrics and gynecology,and pediatrics in three grade-A tertiary hospitals in Shandong Province were randomly selected to carry out a questionnaire survey,and results of the survey were analyzed statistically.Results Chi-square test results showed that there were statistical differences among professional master's degree students in the cognition of the causes for negative public opinion and of the tendency and one-sidedness of media reports(all P<0.05).Chi-square test and logistic regression analysis showed that there were statistical differences in professional master's degree students'professional learning and career choice(all P<0.05).Conclusion The negative public opinion of doctor-patient relationship has a negative impact on professional master's degree students'professional learning and career choice.It requires the joint efforts of schools,government,teachers and media to reduce these negative impacts.
