Abstract:Objective To explore the feasibility and effectiveness of implementing a hierarchical and progressive teaching approach in standardized residency training in the field of orthopedic oncology. Methods A total of 26 trainees participating in the residency training at the Department of Bone Oncology, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Naval Medical University in 2024 were selected as the observation group, while 24 trainees in 2023 served as the control group. The observation group was divided into three levels, while the control group received traditional teaching methods. After the rotation, the residents were assessed, and self-evaluations and teaching satisfaction surveys were conducted. Results There were no significant differences in general characteristics between the tow groups.Compared with the control group, the observation group scored higher in medical history taking, physical examination, and case analysis during the final assessment(all P<0.05).The satisfaction of resident physicians in the observation group with the supervising physicians and various teaching activities was better than that of the control group(all P<0.05).Self-evaluations indicated that the observation group scored higher in self-directed learning ability, clinical thinking ability, clinical practice ability, professional quality, and collaborative working ability than the control group(all P<0.05).Conclusion The core competency oriented progressive model demonstrates significant teaching effectiveness in standardized training for residents in orthopedic oncology, and this model is worth promoting.
