Abstract:Objective To explore the medical humanities and communication challenges faced by pediatric residents in the diagnosis and treatment of autistic children, and to analyze coping strategies. Methods Based on the characteristics of autistic children, such as social communication barriers and difficulties in verbal/non-verbal communication, the study identified core challenges in doctor-patient interactions, including cognitive biases caused by social stereotypes, difficulties in interpreting complex emotional expressions of patients, and communication trust crises between families and physicians. To address these issues, systematic improvement strategies were proposed:enhancing physicians'perceptual ability to patients'needs through empathy training(combining self-assessment questionnaires with role-playing),establishing a multi-dimensional evaluation mechanism to optimize communication quality, and strengthening continuous feedback and psychological support in clinical practice. Results Preliminary data showed that targeted training significantly increased the total score of physician empathy ability from baseline(3.2±0.5)points to(4.3±0.4)points(t=6.89,P<0.001),the patients'treatment compliance increased from 62%to 80%(χ2=11.52,P=0.001),and the family satisfaction score increased from(78.5±5.2)points to(89.2±4.7)points(t=6.37,P<0.001),effectively enhancing clinical communication outcomes and increasing patients'cooperation and family satisfaction. Conclusion The study demonstrates that medical humanities care is critical to overcoming communication dilemmas in autism treatment. It is recommended to promote a"training-evaluation-practice"trinity model to provide long-term support for pediatric residents and foster more humane healthcare services.
