Abstract:Objective To evaluate the effect of endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography(ERCP)course combined with virtual reality endoscopy for clinicians without any endoscopy experience. Methods The training data of 37 clinicians with no experience in endoscopy were retrospectively analyzed in the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-Sen University from March 2021 to September 2023.All clinicians successfully completed the training course,of which 16 clinicians were trained with ERCP mechanical simulator(control group)and 21 clinicians were trained in both mechanical simulator and virtual reality endoscopy EndoSim(observation group). Results The score of ERCP exploration was higher in observation group[(8.3±0.8)points]compared with control group[(7.5±0.8)points],and the score of endoscopic cannulation of duodenal papillae was higher in observation group[(8.3±0.7)points]compared with control group[(7.9±0.5)points],both with statistically significant difference(P<0.05).Moreover,the total operation time of observation group[(13.8±2.5)min]was significantly shorter than that of control group[(16.1±1.9)min]with statistically significant difference(P<0.05).Conclusion Combining virtual reality endoscopy simulator can significantly improve the ERCP skills of clinicians without any endoscopy experience.
