Abstract:Professional orientation serves as an important part in standardized residency training, directly impacting the cultivation of physicians'professional competencies. To address potential issues such as education formalism and a lack of discipline-specific features, the Radiation Oncology Department at the University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital designed and implemented a competency-oriented multi-modal educational program, guided by the Professional Orientation Guidelines for Standardized Residency Training(2022 Edition). The program integrated clinical practice,experience-sharing by outstanding graduates,narrative-based palliative care sessions, assessment and feedback, emphasizing a"begin-with-the-end-in-mind"philosophy to foster core competencies including professionalism, clinical skills and patient care.Post-implementation evaluations via questionnaires revealed satisfaction rates of 88.9%to 100.0%among participants(2023 and 2024),with feedback indicating that hands-on practice and interactive learning significantly enhanced initiative. This approach can facilitate a substantive transition for residents from medical students to clinical practitioners.
