Abstract:Objective To investigate the effectiveness of the residents'4 steps+instructors'3 steps+hands-on practice(4+3+1)sampling mindset training model in clinical pathology residency training programs. Methods Six openly recruited residents from the 2021 and 2022 cohorts(including graduates of the medical professional master's degree)underwent six months of training utilizing the 4+3+1 sampling mindset model. The standardization and comprehensiveness of their specimen sampling were assessed. Results After one year of training, the standardized processing rate of radical specimens by residents reached 99%,with a 98%qualification rate for sampling and 99%accuracy in identifying lesion locations. The annual supplemental sampling rate at the training program decreased from 1.43%to 0.41%.Conclusion This active learning-based sampling mindset training model not only aids residents in better understanding the gross morphological features of lesions and mastering standardized specimen processing workflows but also significantly enhances their clinical-pathological thinking skills.Furthermore,it promotes training uniformity across residency programs, improves resident satisfaction with department's training, and increases the completion rate of residency programs.
