Application of ACRM simulation teaching in the standardized training of anesthesiology residents

Abstract：Objective The aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy of anesthesia crisis resource management(ACRM)simulation teaching method in the standardized training for anesthesiology residents.Methods The study recruited'instructor'doctors and residents from the Department of Anesthesiology at the First Affiliated Hospital of Shihezi University who voluntarily participated in ACRM simulation teaching.The process consisted of team building,training,case operations and rehearsal.After training,the analysis,summarization and assessments were conducted,and satisfaction survey and effect evaluation were performed.Results The post-training theoretical knowledge assessment score(89.2±4.1)for resident physicians was significantly higher than the pre-training score(77.5±8.1,P<0.01).The theoretical assessment scores of the residents post-training were higher than the pre-training[(89.2±4.1)vs(77.5±8.1),P<0.01].The practical skills assessment scores of the residents after the training were higher than those before the training[(88.8±2.6)vs(73.4±7.3),P<0.05].Comparison of non-technical skills assessment scores of the residents pre-training and post-training showed that the scores for task management,teamwork,situational awareness,and decision,post-training scores were[(4.3±0.3)vs(2.1±0.7),(4.1±0.1)vs(1.8±0.4),(4.6±0.5)vs(2.5±0.8)and(4.0±0.7)vs(1.9±0.2)],respectively,all P<0.01.This indicates a significant improvement in scores post-training compared to pre-training.The training satisfaction rate was 88.9％among the guiding physicians and 90.9％among the resident doctors,indicating a high level of overall satisfaction with the training program.Conclusion The application of ACRM simulation-based teaching in anesthesiology residency training has enhanced the teaching proficiency of faculty members,optimized the teaching program,and improved the overall quality of residency training.
