Abstract:Objective Chinese medical students generally lack the opportunity to have real contact with combat trauma treatment cases, this to some extent limits the mastery and application of combat trauma treatment skills. The aim of this study was to investigate the method of constructing a combat trauma injury database and to share the practical experience gained from its development. It was also aimed to improve the content of simulation training for frontline trauma treatment, enhance the authenticity and immersion of training, and ultimately enhance the capabilities of medical professionals in China in treating combat trauma. Methods This study was based on the US Accident Injury Scoring classification, coding cases according to the site of trauma.By collecting historical documents, battlefield treatment records and medical textbooks,a combat trauma case database containing real cases was organized and constructed.Based on the case database, the combat trauma injury database was established so as to show the characteristics of injuries more intuitively. Results After more than 3 months of production,an injury library encompassing over 1,000 cases of war trauma injuries was successfully established, covering various parts of the human body.To validate the practical efficacy of this injury database,a questionnaire survey was administered to military cadets and instructors.A total of 171 questionnaires were distributed and collected, with a recovery rate of 100%and valid questionnaires of 100%.The survey results revealed eight aspects.Notably, there were significant differences between the cadet and instructors groups in the evaluation of five aspects:conservation, enhanced participation, learning motivation, consolidate first aid skills and prevention of psychological stress(P<0.05).Conclusion The development of the combat trauma injury database is a remarkable addition to the simulation training content for frontline treatment of combat injuries. It can significantly enhance the authenticity and immersion of the training, ultimately improving the overall training experience for participants.Looking forward, this resource holds immense potential to be expanded into broader emergency medical professional training, thereby strengthening the country's capabilities in responding to combat trauma and other emergency medical situations.
