Correlation of transition shock and psychological capital with professional identity among first-year residents in residency training bases of municipal level

Abstract:Objective To investigate the status of transition shock,psychological capital and professional identity among first-year residents,and to analyze the influencing factors of professional identity.Methods A convenience sampling method was used to investigate first-year residents from four municipal national training bases using the Transition Shock Scale,Psychological Capital Scale and Professional Identity Scale in September 2023.Statistical description,correlation analysis and multiple linear regression methods were used for statistical analysis.Results The total score and dimension scores of the transition shock of first-year residents were negatively correlated with professional identity,while the total score and dimension scores of psychological capital were positively correlated with professional identity(P<0.05).The results of multiple linear regression analysis indicated that the psychological dimension and the social and cultural development dimension of Transition Shock Scale,as well as the total score of positive psychological capital and the resilience dimension of the Psychological Capital Scale were relevant factors affecting the professional identity of first-year residents,explaining 54.90%of the total variation.Conclusion The professional identity of first-year residents in municipal training bases is at at a moderate level and deserves further improvement.Training teachers and administrators should pay attention to the psychological state,social and cultural integration of first-year residents during the transition period,help them establish a good path for personal development,and explore their positive psychological capital,especially the positive role of resilience in professional identity,to jointly promote the establishment of professional identity among first-year residents.
