Pedagogical approach of standardized training for general dental residents guided by ideological and political education

Abstract：Objective To investigate the teaching effect of integrating ideological and political education into general dentistry resident standardized training.Methods A total of 51 participants who underwent general dentistry resident standardized training at the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University from September 2020 to September 2023 were randomly divided into an observation group(26 participants)and a control group(25 participants).The control group received traditional training,while the observation group received training integrated with ideological and political education.The participants were evaluated using the 360-degree assessment,Mini-CEX and DOPS evaluation scale.The training effects were compared between the two groups.Results The results of the 360-degree assessment showed that compared with the control group,the observation group demonstrated better professional ethics,medical humanities,clinical reasoning skills,research thinking ability and learning improvement capability(all P<0.05).The Mini-CEX and DOPS evaluation indicated that overall clinical competence and operational skills were superior in the observation group compared with the control group(all P<0.05).Conclusion Integrating ideological and political education into general dentistry resident standardized training can effectively enhance residents'post competence.It enables them to possess"scientific knowledge,humanistic values,craftsmanship skills,effective communication",thereby achieving educational goals focused on cultivating moral character.
