Abstract:Objective To explore the feasibility and effectiveness of integrating the CBL teaching method and the SEGUE Framework in enhancing the communication skills of residents undergoing standardized training in otolaryngology. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on the changes in communication skills of 120 residents before and after using the combined CBL and SEGUE Framework teaching method. The effects of gender, age, grade, educational background and marital status on SEGUE scores were also analyzed. Results The combined application of the CBL teaching method and the SEGUE Framework significantly improved the SEGUE scores of the 120 residents. There were no significant differences in SEGUE scores among different sex and marital status of resident physicians. However,SEGUE scores were positively correlated with age,and significant differences were observed based on grades and educational backgrounds. Conclusion The combined application of CBL teaching method and the SEGUE Framework in the teaching of medical communication skills for otolaryngology residents is both feasible and effective. This approach merits broader implementation in other medical specialties.
