Investigation and analysis of influencing factors for communication ability of obstetrics and gynecology resident physicians

Abstract：Objective To explore the communication status and its influencing factors for obstetrics and gynecology training practitioners.Methods A questionnaire survey was conducted among 71 obstetrics and gynecology residents from January 2019 to September 2022.Results Communication ability included communication motivation,communication knowledge and communication skills.In terms of communication motivation,the age,educational level,marital status and place of origin were the main influencing factors(P<0.5).In terms of communication knowledge,the educational level,marital status and place of origin were the main influencing factors(P<0.01).In terms of communication skills,the educational level,marital status and place of origin were the main influencing factors(P<0.05).In the communication satisfaction survey,gender and place of origin were the main influencing factors(P<0.01).Smooth curve fitting and threshold effect analysis showed that the relationship between age and motivation was nonlinear,and for residents aged 29.0～31.4 years,communication motivation decreased with increasing ages.Conclusion The communication motivation of doctors trained in our Obstetrics and Gynecology Department is poor.The overall evaluation ability of calmness,interaction,expression and self-communication in the communication skills dimension needs to be improved.Focus should be on resident physicians aged 29.0～31.4 years,and their motivation to communicate should be actively enhanced.
