Abstract:Lack of clinical thinking ability in Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)is a common issue among TCM residents. How to promote the clinical thinking ability of residents in TCM is the core problem to be addressed in practice teaching. The lack of four diagnoses and the dogmatic syndrome differentiation and treatment are the main thinking shortcomings of residents.Xiang thinking is one of the essential thoughts of TCM,and comprehensive consideration of both complexion and pulse manifestation together with synthesis of the four diagnostic methods advocated by Huang Di Nei Jing is its most fundamental thinking mode. Therefore,it is an important way to cultivate residents'thinking ability of TCM by returning to the essence of Xiang thinking, following the thinking law of comprehensive consideration of both complexion and pulse manifestation as well as synthesis of the four diagnostic methods advocated by Huang Di Nei Jing, and implementing pulse diagnosis practice teaching based on clinical cases.
