Abstract:In the context of"New Medical Sciences",the primary goal of orthopedic residency training in the new era is to foster the development of"Medicine+X"interdisciplinary medical talents who possess a good outlook on life, values and six core competencies, thereby providing the nation with well-rounded resident physicians.Currently, orthopedic residency training faces such challenges as a singular approach to talent cultivation, outdated teaching methods, and a lack of ideological, political and humanistic education. The Department of Orthopedics at Qilu Hospital of Shandong University, based on the core competency training objectives for resident physicians, has integrated the concept of interdisciplinary medical-engineering talent cultivation. This includes establishing an orthopedic medical research center, building a new type of orthopedic faculty team, setting up orthopedic-specific micro-courses and skills training programs, and constructing a"one foundation, one research, one promotion"residency training model to explore new approaches for orthopedic residency training. In recent years, the pass rates for standardized residency training assessments and medical licensing exams in orthopedics have steadily increased, and the career paths for high-level talents have become increasingly diverse, with overall training outcomes being fruitful.
