Abstract：To improve the medical environment in rural areas,China initiated the Rural Contracted Medical Students Free Education Program in 2010.However,several issues have arisen during the implementation process.This article analyzes and reflects on the current situation of training rural contracted medical students and their choices after the contract ends.It proposes corresponding improvements and optimizations in the training mode,training conditions,professional identity,and stability of the talents after the graduation of rural contracted medical students.These improvements are aimed to ensure the quality of training for rural contracted medical students in schools and to retain them in primary medical institutions after graduation,providing high-quality and reliable medical services for the general public.They are expected to become the cornerstone in achieving the goal of universal health.
