Effect of unfavorable learning environments on the willingness of residents to learn clinical reasoning online

Abstract:Objective This study was aimed to explore the changes in the learning willingness of anesthesiology residents and analyze its related factors from the perspective of residents in an unfavorable learning environment.Methods Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 15 anesthesiology resident physicians who enrolled in the course"Perioperative Clinical Thinking Training."The interview data were analyzed and organized.Results The thematic content analysis revealed four core themes:learning objectives,learning interest,peer selection,and online learning.Conclusion In the face of unfavorable learning environments,clear learning objectives and strong learning interest are important factors and strong supports for maintaining residents'learning willingness.The choice of peers has a significant influence,and peer learning can help enhance learning motivation.Online learning has been recognized by residents and forms a good complement to face-to-face teaching.
