Exploration and reflection on supervised teaching outpatient clinics in standardized residency training of neurology

Abstract:The supervised teaching outpatient clinics present an innovative paradigm in medical education.Supervisory physicians teach in outpatient clinics,providing more practice opportunities and personalized guidance for residents.Residents are allowed to engage with a wider range of authentic medical cases,receive real-time feedback,and thereby enhance their professional competency.Focusing specifically on the domain of neurology,this article elucidates the concept and significance of supervised teaching outpatient clinics.Furthermore,the article discusses the teaching objectives and methodologies of this approach.Drawing from experiences and insights in other departments,this article systematically assesses the current challenges confronting supervised teaching outpatient clinics;that is,the paucity of supervisory resources,poor management,and the incipient state of the monitoring and evaluation system.This article proposes relevant remedies and considerations,and aims at providing effective teaching strategies for standardized training of neurology residents and nurturing neurologists with comprehensive ability.Through consistent practice and improvement,the supervised teaching outpatient clinic holds the potential to achieve substantial progress in the realm of neurology education.
