Designation and analysis of the standard program for clinical practice ability assessment of standardized residency training of dermatology

Abstract:Objective To analyze the designation of the 2022 edition of standard program for clinical practice ability assessment of standardized residency training of dermatology,to summarize experiences,to further improve the comprehensiveness,objectivity and homogeneity of the assessment,and to better enhance the quality of standardized residency training of dermatology.Methods This study systemically retrospected the designation of this edition of assessment program,and analyzed the process and results of organizing the expert committee,the compiling,testing and analyzing of resident work-task questionnaire,the designating of the assessment program,expert evaluating,and experimental testing in detail.Results The expert committee consisted of 11 experts from 7 provincial administrative units.A nationwide resident work-task and disease entities questionnaire(not including Hong Kong,Macao,and Taiwan province)from 418 respondents revealed that collecting medical history and 17 other work tasks had higher frequency and importance in the practical work of residents.Based on sufficient analysis and investigation,the expert committee designated the assessment program for clinical practice ability composed of 4 stations,including receiving the patient,clinical thinking/case analysis,clinical operation and humanistic communication.The program was evaluated and reviewed by the expert committee after designation.After opinions and comments were asked from the experts in January,2023,corresponding amendments were made on the assessment program.Experimental testing was held in 5 provinces in May,2023.Conclusion Designation of this edition of standard program for clinical practice ability assessment of standardized residency training of dermatology is based on the actual work tasks,with a standard process,scientific workflow,and reasonable content,which embodies the standardization,homogeneity and fairness,and is contributive in better assess training quality.
