Application of literature compilation combined with seminar presentation in neurosurgery residency training

Abstract：Objective To study the effects of literature compilation combined with seminar presentation in neurosurgery residency training.Methods A total of 30 neurosurgery residents from the Chinese PLA General Hospital were randomly divided into three groups:the literature compilation group(group A,n=10),seminar presentation group(group B,n=10),and literature compilation combined with seminar presentation group(group C,n=10).After half a year of training,the three groups of neurosurgery residents were given a unified examination,which mainly measured the theoretical knowledge level,literature analysis ability and innovative thinking ability of residents.Results After such training,the theoretical knowledge level,literature analysis ability and innovative thinking ability of residents in the three groups were significantly improved(P<0.05).In addition,the theoretical knowledge level of residents in group B was significantly lower than that in the other two groups(P<0.05).Moreover,the innovative thinking ability of residents in group A was significantly lower than that in the other two groups(P<0.05).It should be noted that the literature analysis ability of residents in group C was significantly higher than that in the other two groups(P<0.05).Compared with group B,group A and group C gave higher evaluations for improving the level of theoretical knowledge(P<0.05).Compared with group A,group B and group C gave higher evaluations for cultivating innovative thinking ability(P<0.05).The evaluation of group C in terms of satisfaction with teaching methods and cultivation of literature analysis ability was significantly better than that of the other two groups(P<0.05).Conclusions The literature compilation combined with seminar presentation training effectively improves the theoretical knowledge level,literature analysis ability and innovative thinking ability of neurosurgery residents.
