Abstract:Objective To analyze whether the use of evidence-based medicine resource UpToDate could promote the orientation of residents toward lifelong learning. Methods In July 2021,979 residents from 52 residency training bases in five provinces of Gansu,Hainan,Jiangsu,Shanxi and Zhejiang were selected as the research subjects. The residents'basic information questionnaire,UpToDate utilization questionnaire and the revised Jefferson scale of physician lifelong learning were used to investigate them. The random forest algorithm was used to screen the top ten important factors affecting lifelong learning. The logistic model was adopted to analyze the ten selected variables. Results Five variables,"refined my known knowledge"(OR=2.189),"drug information"(OR=2.076),"self-directed learning"(OR=1.882),"helped me save time searching for information"(OR=1.985),and"ensured that my clinical decisions reflected the current best medical evidence"(OR=2.196),were statistically significant(P<0.05),and all five variables were promoting factors for residents'orientation toward lifelong learning. Conclusion In evidence-based clinical practice of residents, the application of UpToDate can promote the orientation toward lifelong learning. In residency training, trainers can guide residents to use UpToDate for self-directed learning and cultivating lifelong learning ability.
