Abstract:Objective To explore the application effect of problem-based learning(PBL)combined with the case-based three-dimensional teaching method(CTTM)in the teaching of spinal surgery in standardized residency training. Methods From September 2020 to September 2022,60 residents in the Spine Surgery Department of Linyi Hospital Affiliated to Shandong First Medical University were selected as the research subjects, and were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, with 30 residents in the observation group taught by PBL combined with CTTM,and 30 residents in the control group using traditional teaching method. At the end of the residency rotation, the two groups were subjected to a theoretical skills examination and a questionnaire. Results The difference between the admission examination scores of the two groups was not statistically significant(P>0.05),and residents in the observation group scored significantly higher than the control group and showed statistically significant improvements in clinical thinking ability, independent learning ability, surgical understanding, clinical work and clinical results(all P<0.05).Conclusion The application of PBL in combination with CTTM can not only improve clinical thinking and self-directed learning, but also improve test scores for spinal surgery residents.
