Abstract:Objective To explore the application of eye tracking technology in the simulation training of ultrasound-guided central venous puncture for residents. Methods We selected 40 residents in the Department of Neurology in the Third Xiangya Hospital of Central South University from August 2020 to August 2022,and randomly divided them into 2 groups. Before the training, relevant baseline knowledge was tested, and then visual operation simulation teaching assisted by eye tracking and traditional visual operation simulation teaching without eye tracking were conducted respectively. After the training, the satisfaction questionnaire and operation assessment were conducted. Results After the training, the visual operation simulation teaching group with the assistance of eye tracking instrument had better results in examination of venipuncture, and the proportion of time spent staring at the ultrasound screen during the operation was higher, while the number of times of gaze switching between the ultrasound screen and the puncture needle or probe was less, and the satisfaction of the questionnaire was also higher than the group without the assistance of eye tracking instrument. And there were statistically significant differences(P<0.05).Conclusion The application of eye tracking in the simulation training of ultrasound-guided central venous puncture can improve the learning efficiency of residents, enhance their self-confidence and clinical operation enthusiasm, and improve the teaching satisfaction. It is worth applying in the medical simulation training.
