Application of PDCA teaching method in standardized training of surgical residents

Abstract:Objective To explore the teaching strategies suitable for standardized residency training in the Internet age.Methods Residents recruited from the General Surgery Department of the Third Hospital of Hebei Medical University in 2022 were selected as the observation group and trained according to the PDCA teaching method.Residents trained by the conventional teaching method in 2021 were selected as the control group.The scores of the two groups at the end of the first academic year were compared,which included theoretical knowledge,clinical skills,and teaching satisfaction.Results In the aspect of theoretical knowledge,the socre of the observation group(50.79±4.08)points was higher than that of the control group(45.77±3.94)points.In teaching satisfaction the score of the observation group(88.83±5.19)points was higher than that of the control group(81.50±6.69)points.The above differences were statistically significant(all P<0.01).As for clinical skills,the observation group scored(30.92±2.19)points,while the control group scored(31.00±2.02)points,between which the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusion The PDCA teaching method can meet the needs of teaching in the Internet age and is a good strategy for standardized training of surgical residents.
