Establishment of a county-level diagnosis center of digital and intelligent pathology

Abstract：China's county-level pathology resources are scarce and unevenly distributed. Building county-level digital and intelligent pathology diagnosis centers is an important measure to address this issue, improve the efficiency and quality of pathology diagnosis, and promote reform in grassroots medical care. Taking Daye People's Hospital as a case study, this paper elaborates on the practical experience of the institution in establishing a digital and intelligent pathology diagnosis center (including regional center informationization, digitization, smartization, and the construction of a platform for difficult case consultation) under the policy support of the Hubei Provincial Government and the Provincial Health Commission. Since its operation began in March 2023, the center has achieved the goal of county-level pathology specimens not leaving the county, standardized pathology testing, and simultaneously realized software and hardware upgrades, improved process efficiency, optimized quality control and departmental management, strengthened diagnostic support, and promoted the growth of physicians' capabilities. The practice has proven that the integration of county-level pathology resources can achieve vertical linkage, promote the下沉 of high-quality medical technology, and enable patients in remote areas to enjoy high-quality medical treatment, marking substantial progress in China's county-level digital and intelligent pathology construction, and providing a reference for similar regions.
