Abstract:Objective To rescue poorly dehydrated pathological tissue blocks and seek an optimal method for processing fixed tissue samples with poor dehydration. Methods A total of 459 pathological tissue blocks that could not be sectioned due to poor dehydration were rescued from Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital between January 2023 and December 2024. Results After the rescue, the tissue sections were structurally intact, with stable, appropriate staining, reasonable coloring, clear nuclear-cytoplasmic contrast, accurate immunohistochemical staining localization, and no cross-staining phenomena. Conclusion The rescue measures formulated for poorly dehydrated pathological tissue blocks significantly improved HE staining quality, had minimal impact on subsequent immunohistochemical staining, and was beneficial for subsequent pathological diagnosis by pathologists.
